Every year new projects and experiments are added to our long list of initiatives. You can discover each of them in detail by signing up to participate in our free events listed on the Calendar, or you can find a summary of the projects currently underway below:
In the past, teaching was done through experiences, and prior to that, through movement. Like many of our colleagues, it was the teachings of Maria Montessori that first inspired us. However, we are now forging our own path, building a methodology centered around living the language through daily activities, thus evoking emotions and feelings to be shared in English. We have identified this as the most effective method to introduce a new language into an individual's life, and that's how the MyLife in English program was born. We are now able to offer this program to adults and teens through private labs.
This is the method that we have identified as the most effective for introducing a new language into an individual's life, and this is how the MyLife in English path was born which we are now also able to offer to adults and teenagers through private labs.
Following the success of the labs and summer camps, the teachers at MyTata Inglese decided to organize a slightly different summer camp: our teachers will help children with foreign backgrounds create a book that tells their story, in Italian, about where they come from or where they were born.
This is an intensive Italian language course not only aimed at improving the grammar and vocabulary of children with this need, but also at helping them increase self-confidence by teaching them how to introduce themselves and encouraging them to be proud of their backgrounds. It's also a great opportunity for our teachers who want to improve their Italian language skills!
Like many others during Covid times, we had to make the difficult adjustment to online meetings. However, these new approaches, both collective and private, had surprises in store: new ways of communicating, new challenges, and above all, a practical mindset that means we no longer need to cancel meetings due to travel or illness. Programs can now be conducted in person or online, providing continuity of learning no matter the circumstances, thus ensuring continual progress.
In addition to the MyLife in English program, grammar, and language labs aimed at teens, we have also developed a program whereby a few teens can shadow a teacher, helping and sometimes substituting for him/her during labs for younger children. Each teen learns not only English, but also how to support younger children, how to structure and prepare for a lab, and how to resolve minor group problems as needed. This approach is one of the most effective in terms of language proficiency and self-confidence, but is of course limited to intermediate/advanced students who have been with us for at least a year.
These sensory labs are at the heart of our methodology and the key to our success. "Work in progress" is our motto, as we continually modify, enhance, and reproduce every activity, game, and song based on its effectiveness.
We provide materials and bring to life the new ideas of our teachers, observing the level of fun and learning during each activity to therefore determine the potential of each new proposal.
Birthdays, Halloween, Christmas, as well as Carnival, Mother's and Father's Day, the changing of seasons, the start and end of school… we always find an opportunity to celebrate and be together. Most importantly, we organize two large free events each year during which we introduce our new teachers to families who have requested a program with us.
The next languages on the MENU? French, Chinese, Spanish, German, and—for all those writing to us from other cities—our teachers are coming! For now, Prato, Pisa, and Rome should be the next destinations, but please contact us if you are in other cities and interested in our services… We will try to meet your requests to the best of our ability.
